The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) has appreciated the efforts of the Faisalabad Police to maintain the law and order situation and make the city a secure and business friendly place. Arrest of culprits of extortion threat calls to industrialists is also a great success of the police.
Speaking at a press conference along with of district police officials here on Wednesday, Sohail Pasha, Chairman of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association, said that some industrialists had been receiving threatening calls in which the terror group demanded huge amount of money.
In case of refusal, the caller threatened for kidnapping of kids and murders. As a result of such threat calls, business and trade community were in a state of panic and harassment and business activities were also decreasing, he said. All the incidents were brought into the notice of the city police official. He reacted promptly and activated the cellular detection department of the Faisalabad police to identify the suspects behind these threatening calls and put them behind the bars. As a result of strenuous efforts of the cellular detection unit of police, culprits of extortion calls finally identified and arrested, he said.
He lauded the efforts of the district police who, under the supervision of CPO Sohail Tajik, worked hard to solve the issue. He hoped that the district police would continue its momentum to counter the culprits and maintain peace and security in the city.
Later, CPO Sohail Habib Tajik thanked the industrialists and the business community for their encouragement and expressed that security of lives and property of citizens and maintaining the law and order situation were the top priority of the district police. Industrialists and the business community are important part of the society and no one even think to run their business in circumstances of harassment and panic. He said the cellular detection unit of police worked hard and traced out the culprit of threatening calls for extortion to industrialists. He stressed for close liaison of police and the society to counter terrorist activities in the city. He appealed the people to carefully watch and monitor activities of suspects and inform the local police authorities immediately. Later shields and cash awards were presented to the policemen of cellular detection unit in recognition of their great effort to identify and arrest the extortion call culprit.
