Interpol arrested an absconder, Uzair Baloch, at Dubai International Airport on Monday. The Pakistani consulate in Dubai confirmed on Monday that Uzair Baloch was arrested by Interpol at Dubai Airport. He was wanted by the judicial authorities of Pakistan in connection with cases of targeted killings, extortion and other crimes.
Baloch and others were declared proclaimed offenders by an Anti-Terrorism Court on July 23, 2013 in the murder case of alleged Lyari gangster, Arshad Pappu. Afterwards, police raided his residence several times but failed to capture him.
Sindh government had sent the federal government documents, seeking red warrants for the suspect. Later, the federal government contacted the Interpol through Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the arrest of the accused. Interpol issued red warrants for Uzair and Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla on June 11, 2014.
According to sources, Baloch was travelling on an Iranian passport with his name listed as Abdul Ghani, son of Khuda Bux. Sources added that a decision to extradite Baloch to Iran or Pakistan is yet to be made.
The red warrants for Uzair said the professional dangerous criminal was born on October 10, 1977 and fled to the UAE, Iran, Oman and South Africa.
