Atleast six people have been killed in Lahore as heavy rain lashed several parts of Punjab on Tuesday, causing flood-like situation in the cities.

According to local media reports, two people were killed in Lahore as the roof of a warehouse collapsed collapsed owing to heavy downpour, while four others were electrocuted.

Rescue operations were started in Lahore after the continuous heavy rain submerged the main thoroughfares in the city. The Rescue 1122 emergency service began boat service to rescue residents stuck in rain due to prolonged thunderstorm. Water and Sanitation Agency has also imposed a rain emergency, as roads have submerged in water.

Other than commuters getting stuck, the heavy rain has even destroyed many under construction roads, forming hallows in main roads. People took to Twitter and criticised the previous government for the quality of their work in city's infrastructure, which has destroyed recently-carpeted roads.

Many areas of Lahore, including Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore has almost submerged in rain water, while Mall Road seems like more like a canal. “Shehbaz Sharif claimed to make it Paris. Underpasses are full of water and Lahore is resembling Venice!,” one of the residents tweeted.

Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain forecast along with thundershower with gusty winds in, Lahore, Sargodha and Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir for next two days.
