Punjab Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal has said that Punjab will be put on the road to progress and development by implementing Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif's vision of good governance and merit. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of administrative secretaries, commissioners and district co-ordination officers here Monday, disclosed an official.
He said the situation demands that all officers should perform their duties efficiently and necessary measures be taken for the eradication of terrorism. He stressed upon administrative secretaries to take effective steps for the solution of people's problems and warned that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He directed that administration should facilitate the masses and resolve people's problems on priority basis.
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary was given a briefing by the provincial secretaries of home, health, revenue, planning and development, higher education and industries departments. The Home Secretary informed the meeting that foolproof security arrangement have been made in the province and in order to control terrorism, old arms licenses will be cancelled and new arms licenses will be issued. Similarly, he said fine on the misuse of sound system is being increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 100,000. Security arrangements in all schools are being further improved.
The Secretary Health said all out measures have been taken for coping with polio virus and as this virus become active during the period from January to March therefore best results will be achieved from the polio campaign launched during this period. He further said administrations of all districts have played a commendable role in anti-measles campaign.
The Secretary Communication and Works told the meeting that 10,426 km long roads will be repaired and reconstructed in the province under Khadim Punjab Green Road Programme. He said 73,619 km long roads will be repaired and reconstructed in various districts in Punjab. "The roads will be widened from 10 feet to 12 feet and all roads in the province to be constructed in future will be 12 feet wide. The revenue department said recovery of revenue will be further increased this year and action will be taken against patwaris not showing co-operation in the computerisation of record. Performance of Patwaris and Tehsildars will be regularly monitored to provide best services to the citizens, he added.
