The Karachi Port handled 83,295 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,646 tonnes of import cargo and 24,649 tonnes of export cargo including 1,967 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 58,646 tonnes comprised of 6,609 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,650 tonnes of general cargo; 8,587 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,200 tonnes of coal; 2,387 tonnes of soda ash and 28,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,649 tonnes comprised of 15,451 tonnes of containerised cargo; 279 tonnes of general cargo; 6,256 tonnes of bulk cargo: 676 tonnes of cement, 5,580 tonnes of steel and 2,663 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 1,967 containers comprising of 858 containers import and 1,109 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 188 of 20's and 127 of 40's loaded while 134 of 20's and 141 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 456 of 20's and 181 of 40's loaded containers while 47 of 20's and 122 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely MOL Distinction, Hanjin Indigo and Spruce-2 carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. ACX Crystal, Sima Prestige, Silver Hannah, SFL Hudson, GM Phoenix, Le Li and Kiran Istanbul carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely ACX Crystal carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while four ships namely Sima Prestige, Western Eyde, GM Phoenix and Kiran Istanbul carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were five vessels viz. Commodore, OOCL Chicago, Kota Kamil, Al-Mahboobah and Adfines Sun carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz. PAC Aries, Uni Premier, Ever Result, Mathawee Naree and Mikawa carrying containers, DAP and steel respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 80,790 tonnes comprising 56,508 tonnes of import cargo and 24,282 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,310 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 56,508 tonnes includes 11,100 tonnes of palm oil; 6,100 tonnes of fertilizer and 38,608 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 24,282 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,310 containers comprising of 2,032 containers import and 1,278 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV MSC Alessia with containers sailed out sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels viz. CV Safmarine Ngami, CV ACX Crystal, CV MSC Alessia, MV Hyderabad, MV Sino-6 and MT Genuine Venus currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, fertilizer and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely CMA CGM Racine and FSL London carrying containers and palm oil respectively are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday. There were two vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Racine and CV Northern Jaugar with containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CVCMA CGM Lamartine and CV Maersk Hartford carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
