Northern Areas receive first snowfall

Breaking a long dry spell, Northern Areas, including Baltistan, received the winter season's first heavy snowfall which paralysed normal life in the area. According to details, the snowfall started on Tuesday and continued till Wednesday. The communication system from Skardu to other parts of the country was cut of as transporters stopped services to avoid any accident and fear of road blockade. However, no report of blockade has been received till now.
Reports received from upper mountainous villages like, Sadpara, Tandal chunda, Shila Gultary and Basho, Bralso, heavy snowfall forced people to remain at home. The recent spell would have a good impact on agriculture and there would be no shortage of irrigation water during the summer season.
