Implementing 14 identified points under NAP: Sindh forms three special bodies
The Sindh government here on Friday has formed three special committees in the province to implement 14 identified points under National Action Plan (NAP) in an effective manner. Apart from an Apex Committee at the highest level, the three operational bodies are Execution Committee, Legal Committee and Media Committee.
According to details, the Execution Committee involves representatives of Home Department, Sindh Rangers, Sindh Police CID Department, Karachi Police, Afghan Refugees Department, Minorities Department Sindh, Frontier Constabulary Sindh, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The Legal Committee involves representatives of Home Department, Law Department, Sindh Police Legal Department, ISI, MI and IB while the Media Committee involves Secretary Sindh Information, Home Department, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Sindh, Press Information Department (PID), Sindh Police (Media Cell) and Rangers (Media Cell).
As per information, the Media Committee, in its meeting has decided to set up a centralised system of monitoring and rapid response to provide timely and accurate information to media. The meeting chaired by Secretary, Sindh Information in Karachi, also decided to incorporate a legal expert from Sindh Law Department in the Media Committee to make/amend laws for getting desirable results also in field of media in ongoing war against terrorism.
Moreover, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will also be involved to deal with social media effectively as terrorists are making the most of it, it was further decided. The meeting was attended by Director General, PID Karachi, Regional General Manager PERMA Sindh, officials of ISPR, Sindh Rangers and Deputy Secretary Home Department.
The Committee also discussed in detail prescribed guidelines and task of the committee which included act as an advisory body on all media related issues to Apex Committee, sharing of information with media and getting through media reps and shaping of environment for furthering the cause of counter terrorism campaign. The task of the committee was ban on glorification of terrorism and terrorist organisations through print and electronic media. The next meeting of the committee would be held on January 30.
