a tortured body of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker was found in Mowach Goth area on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sohail Ahmed. According to MQM sources, the deceased was the in-charge of the Society Sector Unit No-64. Sohail was allegedly kidnapped by law- enforcement agencies on 15 December from the said area; however, his tortured body was found near the Mowach police station on Tuesday but the body was identified on Wednesday.
The body of the victim was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. Right after the news flashed on different local TV channels, markets in many areas of the Karachi city, particularly in Bahadurabad, PECHS and Tariq Road, started shutting down. Later the MQM Rabita Committee announced to mark the day of mourning by observing a peaceful shutter down strike in Karachi on Thursday.
