Country Director of the World Bank in Pakistan Rachid Benmessaoud called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Monday. Ongoing projects in various sectors including energy with the co-operation of World Bank were discussed in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the CM commended the co-operation of WB in energy, education, health, agriculture, irrigation and other sectors of social development.
He said the programmes for the provision of best services and relief to the masses were continuing successfully in Punjab while the funds saved through austerity policy were also being spent on the welfare of the people. WB Country Director in Pakistan Rachid Benmessaoud said WB would continue its co-operation in energy projects as well as agriculture, irrigation and education sectors. He said Punjab government led by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was speedily implementing various development programmes in the province. Provincial Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Member Provincial Assembly Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Finance and concerned officers were present on the occasion.
