Imran Khan's demand of resignation of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is illegal as the speaker's number of votes in NA-122 has increased in the recounting. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said this on Monday while speaking to media persons outside the Parliament House. "Under which law Imran Khan is demanding resignation of the speaker. His (Imran Khan) demand of the resignation is illegal," he said.
The minister said that Khan has failed to present any evidence to prove his allegations about rigging in May 2013 general elections. Commenting about Khan's meeting with Chief Election Commissioner, he said that the PTI chief did not repeat the allegations in his meeting with the CEC that he used to level in his press conferences.
"Imran Khan did not mention the allegations during parleys with the chief election commissioner that he levelled during the sit-in at D-Chowk," he said. The minister said that if Khan had evidence about the rigging and fake ballot papers, he would have discussed these issues with the election commissioner. He said that Imran Khan has been talking about the fake ballot papers that were got published from Urdu Bazar Lahore. The election commission has a set procedure to publish the ballot papers as they are published on a specific paper with security features, he said.
"The ballot papers cannot be published anywhere except Printing Press of Pakistan," he said, adding that the election commission has had complete record of the published ballot papers for the elections. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Defence and Water and Power Khawaja Asif while talking to media persons outside the Parliament House said that Imran Khan's candidate in his constituency has failed to bring any evidence of rigging against him.
"The PTI's candidate was fined 30,000 rupees by the election tribunal as he failed to turn up before it despite repeated requests," he said. Asif said that he has got more evidence against the PTI candidate in his constituency and he would present soon before the nation.
Talking about the defamation case that Imran Khan has initiated against him, the minister said that he was ready to face the case in the court of law and would prove his allegations against Khan. The minister said that Khan's hue and cry on rigging in the previous elections has been badly exposed as all the four constituencies demanded by the PTI are opened and the PML-N candidates emerged victories in the recounting.
