KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has called upon the administrative secretaries to pull their sleeves for ensuring efficient and transparent utilisation of resources on the development schemes. All public sector organisations must get their targets otherwise action will be initiated against all those falling short of the target.
He was presiding over a mid-year review meeting at cabinet room of Civil Secretariat Peshawar. The Chief Minister directed for additional resources for the public welfare schemes in different departments which included Rs 1 billion for agriculture, Rs 3.5 billion for road communication, Rs 500 million for education, Rs 1 billion for public health engineering, Rs 5 billion for energy & power, Rs 8 billion for irrigation, Rs 2 billion for Local Government and one billion for security.
Chief Minister was briefed about the developmental plan and the resources allocated for different public welfare schemes. He said that a system for transparent and efficient utilization of public money has been evolved which would start delivering. Senior Minister for Finance, Muzaffar Said, Senior Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai, Provincial Ministers Shah Farman and Muhammad Atif Khan, Chief Secretary and administrative secretaries attended.
The Chief Minister directed to identified obstacles in the developmental strategy and removed them so that the developmental process is visible and inconsonant with the people's aspirations. Chief Minister directed the provincial ministers and secretaries to hold a fortnight meetings in their respective departments to ensure in-time efficient and transparent utilisation of resources and to achieve the targets within the time frame. He directed that any changes in the umbrella schemes should be made within the departments.
The Chief Minister directed to ensure the minimum wages to the low paid employees and it should be implemented within the public sector bodies adding that delay in this regard is unfair and illegal. He further directed to make the green growth billion-trees Tsunami campaign a success story.
He directed that the available resources should be immediately utilised on the new and ongoing schemes and if additional resources were required, the government would provide them on case to case basis. The Chief Minister directed for the widening of university road and four elevated bridges for u-turn at university town, Islamia College, Balahisar and bus stand Peshawar. He also directed to complete the bus stand on fast track.
Chief Minister further directed to open "Bachat Bazaar" in four towns of Peshawar where the poor with hand driven carts would be given places. The Chief Minister further directed the Secretary C&W to visit all the under construction roads in Peshawar including Chamkani to Peshawar, Kohat Road, Warsak road and Charsadda to Kheweshgi, Nowshera and expedite the pace of work. He directed that in future roads should be completed within nine months, buildings should be completed within one year and bridges should be completed within six months.
The Chief Minister directed for sport grounds at all tehsils and where land is not available, the land of colleges and schools should be completed into sports stadium equipped with all facilities. Chief Minister said that agriculture is the main stay of our economy therefore schemes such as water storage, soil levelling; water lining and water channels should be prepared and initiated so that agriculture could become a real sector for poverty eradication. He also announced one billion additional resources for the agriculture sector development.
Chief Minister also directed to get prepared for the flood in the summer and ensure lesser damages this year. He also directed to accelerate the pace of work on hydel power so that these could be completed as early as possible. Chief Minister directed to convert all new schools, tube-wells and other buildings on solar energy.
