The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed the Inspector General Police (IGP) to implement by February 23 the court orders regarding registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) former station chief Jonathan Banks over deaths of civilians in US drone attacks.
A single-member bench of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed the hearing of a contempt of court petition filed by Haji Abdul Karim Khan of North Waziristan, pleading that secretariat police station has not registered an FIR against the accused despite an order passed by the said bench on June 5, 2014. During the course of proceedings, IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam khan appeared before the bench, urging the court to give 20 days' time for the registration of an FIR as the police is still consulting the government on the matter. However, the court turned down the IGP's request and directed him to implement the court's order within 14 days and adjourned the proceedings of the matter till February 23.
