US wheat futures were mixed on Thursday, with the CBOT March soft red winter wheat contract closing unchanged while most other offerings declined. Poor demand for US supplies, highlighted by Egypt's decision to buy 240,000 tonnes of French and Romanian wheat after backing out of plans to buy from the United States, weighed on prices. MGEX spring wheat posted the biggest decline, with the front-month contract shedding 1 percent.
CBOT March wheat found support after failing to fall below Wednesday's low. Traders said some shorts were being covered as the contract heads toward the delivery period. USDA will report weekly export sales on Friday morning. Analysts were expecting wheat exports in a range from 300,000 to 500,000 tonnes.
