The Karachi Port handled 120,138 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,636 tonnes of import cargo and 19,502 tonnes of export cargo including 6,261 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 100,636 tonnes comprised of 51,724 tonnes of containerised cargo; 828 tonnes of general cargo; 27,020 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,347 tonnes of coal; 6,753 tonnes of DAP; 2,920 tonnes of yellow peas and 21,064 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,502 tonnes comprised of 17,452 tonnes of containerised cargo and 850 tonnes of general cargo and 1,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,261 containers comprising of 4,280 containers import and 1,981 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 966 of 20's and 1,552 of 40's loaded while 154 of 20's and 28 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 463 of 20's and 281 of 40's loaded containers while 360 of 20's and 298 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely OOCL China, Al Jalaa, Yue Chi, IVS Beachwood, NOCC Kattegat and Neptune Ace carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Ponente, APL Chicago, Lissy Schulte, Cosco Kobe, Dong A Iris, AS Ophelia, Sea Merchant, NOCC Kattegat and Neptune Ace carrying containers, oil tankers, cement and vehicles respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Cosco Kobe, Dong A Iris and Thorco Ace Beachwood carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Saturday, while two ships namely Pacific Legend and TCG Buyukada carrying DAP and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Sunday.
There are five vessels viz. ER Helgoland, Oriental Acacia, Gulf Mist, Neelambari and Diamond Sea carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and cement respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while six vessels viz. Ever Result, Hanjin Indigo, MOL Direction, BW Zambesi, Charelle and Mandarin Trader carrying containers, mogas, project cargo and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
The total export cargo of 13,041 tonnes includes and 13,041 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV Stella and MV Atlantic Miracle with containers and chemical sailed out sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Kingston carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CV Stella, CV CMA CGM Kingston, MT Global Vika, MT Atlantic Miracle, MT Lumphini Park MT Lahore and MT Feng Hai-33 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely Rio Blanco, Lilly Schulte, Alam Sayang, Black Pearl, Al-Salam-II, Pingan and Donga Pontus carrying containers, coal, LPG, furnace oil and edible oil respectively at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday. There were six vessels carrying containers, chemical, furnace oil and edible oil respectively took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There are four ships namely CV Rio Blanco, CV Lilly Schulte, MV Alam Sayang and MT Pingan carrying containers, coal and edible oil due to arrive on Friday.
