PML-N MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar has said that the majority of non-Muslim parliamentarians were busy in serving their interests rather working for their people in the Pakistan. He said this while speaking at a reception held in his honour by Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) at a local hotel on Sunday where a large number of its members were present.
"The parliamentarians, representing non-Muslims community, do not bother to attend the single call of poor people whenever they call them and even they prefer to switch off their cell phones rather than attending them," he said.
The issues of poor non-Muslim community are rising with the passage of time while on the other hand, their representatives are not seen serious to address them, he said, adding besides this, they are not supporting the bill of Dual Voting System in assemblies which might resolve problems of poor people.
He said that he was making all efforts to resolve problems of the community where he approached the apex court in this regards. President PHC, Cheela Ram Kelwani said that Hindu community should focus on religions education which could help to eradicate the forced conversion issue in the province.
President Hindu Panchayat Hyderabad, Dr Chandi Ram said that 1200-member PHC was representing rich and elite class of Hindu community, while not single person was member from 80 per cent of the poor and schedule caste community living in interior Sindh.
Member of PHC, Mangla Sharma said that the council was not complete because there was not representation of woman there.
"The representation is not being given to women due to feudal mindset found among leadership of the PHC," she said, adding such mindset hampered the growth of council which could not done so much as it should have done so far for their community.
She suggested that the units of council should be set up at each districts as the issue of the poor people could be resolved at gross root level.
Earlier, Aso Bai was awarded for her running school where more than 300 children are studying including more than 100 girls.
The PHC appreciated the efforts made by her for education at area where girls are not allowed to walk without scarf. Besides, Manisha and Moona Parkas were also awarded for achieving distinct numbers in exam and working for peace respectively.
