The ambassador of Ukraine in Islamabad, Volodymyr Lakomov, on Friday observed that nearly 70 percent of his compatriots now favoured European Union from earlier 50 percent, also expressing his country's determination to double the volume of trade with Pakistan to a $ one billion.
In a chat with a section of Pakistani media, Lakomov emphasised the implementation of the cease-fire agreement with Russia in letter and spirit.

The ambassador said various cease-fire agreements were violated in the past, eventually culminating in hostilities. To a question, the ambassador said that people of Ukraine now had more inclination towards European Union than it was before the recent conflict with Russia. "It was above 50% earlier and has reached more than 70 percent," he said while claiming the affinity of the Ukrainian people towards EU which has played a key role in defusing alarming situation caused by recent conflict. While talking of Ukraine's bilateral relations with Pakistan, the ambassador expressed Ukraine's deep desire to further improve mutual co-operation in diverse areas of mutual interests.
"Presently bilateral volume is nearly half a billion US dollars" he said adding that in pursuing a number of agreements with Pakistan, the volume could reach up to $1 billion. It is worthy to note that there are a number of different agreements scheduled to be signed between the two sides. These mutually agreed areas include energy, textile, mutual investments etc.
