PPP ideological group of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday gave deadline to central leadership of the party for changing from provincial chapter till April 10. Otherwise, he said on the expiry of the deadline, they in consultations with party workers will announce provincial cabinet, divisional and district level cabinets of the party.
This was announced by the convenor of the group, Engineer Mohammad Tariq Khattak, a former MNA while addressing a function held here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) in connections with 36th death anniversary of the PPP founding chairman and late Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Besides, former Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Abdul Akbar Khan, former federal minister Mian Muzaffar Shah, Ayub Shah, Tahir Abbas, Misbahuddin, Israr Nehqi and Bacha Hussain also addressed the ceremony while a large number of party activists attended.
The party leaders paid rich tributes to the PPP founding chairman and late Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for adopting of popular politics and creation of awareness among the people about their rights.
Addressing the function, the party leaders said that after the expiry of the deadline they will direct their like-minded party activists for fielding candidates for local bodies' polls. They pledged that they will make utmost efforts for benefits of the party workers.
They also rejected the electoral alliance constituted under the banner of Tri-Partite Alliance with ANP and JUI-F in the province. They said that adjustment is of no benefit for the party in the province.
The PPP leaders even declined to run election campaign for the candidates to be fielded by the tri-partite alliance in the party. They said that they could not defend the corruption of the previous ANP led provincial government.
They were critical of entering into electoral alliance with ANP and JUI-F on equal basis, saying in presence of such unique alliance the chances of any district nazim in the province is bleak while party will also face difficulties in next general elections.
Some of the party leaders also stressed need for holding debate on the reconciliatory politics and said that they have no personal grudge against any one, but acknowledged that the politics adopted by the PPP is not vigorous. They said that only the taking of popular politics could revive the popularity of the party among the masses.
They also stressed need for awarding party tickets to clean candidates and holding intra-party polls. They said that only internal democracy could strengthen the party and termed corrupt elements as real enemies of Bhutto and his political party. One of the party leader also said that PPP is not the personal property of Asif Ali Zardari, saying that they have same right on the party. He asked the party co-chairman for visiting Peshawar to meet party workers and prepare himself for change.
Earlier, the leaders of Peoples' Doctors Forum (PDF), Dr. Nisar Khan and Dr. Zaman also addressed a press conference and termed the death anniversary of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as a day for the revival of commitment with Bhuttoism for the party workers.
