The marble mosaic training for female students of the University of Peshawar (UP) belonging from FATA held at the Pashto Cultural Museum of the varsity. The training organized in collaboration with the World Bank and the College of Home Economics was held in three different batches, each a week long, wherein students were imparted training on marble mining, cement tiles and marble mosaic.
The aim of the training was to inculcate entrepreneurship skills among the female students of the University of Peshawar and unearth their creative skills. Around 40 female students participated. Anmol Afridi was declared as the best designer in the event for her inspiring performance.
UP Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr) Muhammad Rasul Jan was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates and tool kits among the students. Principal of College of Home Economics Professor (Dr) Kaneez Fatima and the representative of the FATA Secretariat were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor said that Pakistan was endowed with the best natural resources in the world and added due to poor extracting techniques more than 50 percent of the non-renewal marble wasted causing grate loss to the natural exchequer. He appreciated the students' effort in making beautiful pieces from wastes of marble.
Dr Jan said that the female contributed more than half of the country's population and it is integral to bring them into the main stream of the socio economic development so that the motherland can prosper. "In education we need more women participation so as to strengthen the system," he concluded. Earlier Dr Kaneez Fatima said that the training was arranged exclusively for female students of FATA with the sole objective to bring them to contribute in the development of national economy.
