Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan failed the fiscal test, as he was outdid by Dr Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari - a female lawmaker of PTI - by paying Rs1,121,005 income tax against Rs218,237 paid by Kaptan. According to parliamentarians' tax directory 2014, released here on Friday by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Shireen Mazari emerged as highest income tax payer among the female PTI lawmakers.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman PTI, did quite well compared to other fellow party lawmakers as he paid Rs1,533,731 - the highest income tax payer among male PTI MPs.
Majid Ali Khan with Rs 834,174 income tax is the third largest income tax payers while Ghulam Sarwar Khan paid Rs717,767. Qaisar Jamal, a PTI MNA from federally administered tribal Areas (Fata), paid Rs767,192 income tax.
Asad Umar of PTI, who is thought to be one of the richest PTI MPs, paid only Rs489, 457. Khial Zaman Aurakzai paid Rs538, 674 while Lal Chand Malhi paid Rs 338,653 as income tax.
Sajida Begum, a rich MNA from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also turned out to be poor as she paid only Rs 18,578. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khattak, another female PTI MNA, is also not as poor but she has also paid Rs54,645 - a peanut for a rich lady like her.
Mussarat Ahmadzeb, the widow of Mian Gul Auranzeb of Swat, who is currently not in good books of Kaptan after she refused to tender her resignation in wake of anti-government sit-ins, has paid Rs652,359 income tax.
Hamid Ul Haq, Rs35,781, Sajid Nawaz, Rs25,377, Siraj Muhammad Khan, Rs39,939, Ali Muhammad Khan, Rs136,218, Shehryar Afridi, Rs 31,377, Nasir Khan Khattak, Rs 23,970, Khial Zaman Aurakzai, Rs 538,674, Salim Rehman, Rs40,682, Junaid Akbar, Rs 40,582, Shafqat Mehmood, Rs 72,095, Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan, Rs31,377, Aaisha Gulalai, Rs 31,377, Munaza Hassan, Rs112,532.
Mujahid Ali, Aqibullah, Imran Kattak, Gulzar Khan paid zero income tax. And the income tax details of Dr Arif Alvi, Murad Saeed, Dr Muhammad Azhar Khan Jadoon, Engineer Dawar Khan Kundi, Colonel Amirullah Marwat (retd) were not mentioned in the directory released by the FBR.
