ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has censured the statement of the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State for Foreign Affairs' warning Pakistan of a 'heavy price' over it's 'ambiguous stand' on the Yemen crisis, terming it 'unacceptable' and a 'violation of all diplomatic norms, as it is ironic and a point to ponder'.
In a press statement on Sunday, Nisar was of the views that the statement made by the UAE Minister of State of Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash is in contrast to diplomatic norms.
Interior Minister said Pakistan has brotherly sentiments not only for Saudi Arabia but also for the UAE. He said that the remarks violated all diplomatic norms and internationally-established ethical standards.
"Pakistani nation is an honourable nation and its masses have feelings for their Muslim brothers including people of Saudi Arabia and Emirates, yet such a statement by a UAE minister is similar to disrespecting the Pakistani people," Nisar said.
A day earlier, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson declined to comment over the remarks of the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The UAE Minister had taken to the social media site twitter, where he criticised Pakistan over its decision to stay neutral.
Dr Gargesh said: "The Arabian Gulf is in a dangerous confrontation, its strategic security is on the edge, and the moment of truth distinguishes between the real ally and the ally of media and statements."
Gargash said that Pakistan is required to show a clear stand in favour of its strategic relations with the six-nation Arab Gulf Co-operation Council, as contradictory and ambiguous views on this serious matter will have a heavy price to pay.
"This is nothing but another chapter of laggard impartial stand," Gargash said, criticising identical views held by Turkey and Iran about the armed conflict in Yemen.
