Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has rejected the victory of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in by-polls on NA-246, terming it as fake. He said that the mandate claimed by MQM was the result of forged voters' list and biased polling staff.
Addressing a press briefing at central election camp at Masjid-e-Quba in Gulberg Town on Thursday night, he reiterated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) proved to be MQM's wing, which patronised it in rigging during NA-246 by-election. He said that the reservations of Jamaat-i-Islami proved genuine after the arrest of two presiding officers who were involved in rigging, adding that the polling staff were MQM workers employed in KPT, NBP and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. He further informed that the JI had lodged several complaints with Election Commission during the polling, however; it did not take action on them.
