Payment of electricity dues: KP MPAs allowed to stage protest at Parliament House

The government on Monday decided to allow Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly to stage protest in front parliament house, but ordinary workers or irrelevant persons will not be allowed to enter the Red Zone.
An official said that the decision to this effect was taken in a meeting, presided over by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and attended by senior officials of Islamabad police and district administration. "The meeting decided that KP MPAs will be allowed to march till Parliament House but entry of irrelevant people including security guards will not be allowed to Red Zone," he said.
He said that the Interior Minister directed high ups of police to put security on high alert in the city. Personal of Frontier Constabulary (FC) will assist Islamabad police to ensure security on the occasion, he said. The official said that the meeting decided strict action will be taken against those trying to take law into their own hand or found involved in creating law and order situation.
Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak on May 6 announced a protest demonstration outside the Parliament building in Islamabad on today (Tuesday), to press the government for payment of outstanding electricity dues from the federal government. He said that the MPAs would stage a protest demonstration in front of the National Assembly for seeking Rs 146 billion outstanding dues that fall under the head of electricity profit.
