Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif said the territories of Pakistan and Afghanistan will not be allowed to be used against each other. He added that Pak-Afghan relations will be guided by three principles, Director General Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa said in a series of tweets. "Our relations will be guided by 3 principles of strict adherence to policy of non interference, won't allow our territories to be used vs other."
The CoAS also extended full support to Afghan-led peace efforts and added that Pak-Afghan relations will strictly adhere to a policy of non-interference. "Full support for Afghan-owned, Afghan-led peace, and reconciliation and making all efforts in this regard," he said. General Raheel further said that Afghanistan's enemy will be treated as Pakistan's enemy and vice versa.
"Afghan's enemy will be treated as Pak's enemy&Pak's enemies will be treated as Afghan's enemies," he added. The army chief also directed the Frontier Works Organisation to commence construction work on the Torkham-Jalalabad carriageway. The construction of this project will commence within a week, DG ISPR tweeted. ISI chief Lt-General Rizwan Akhtar last week paid a visit to Kabul to do the groundwork for the trip by the prime minister and the army chief.
