K-Electric officials along with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Sindh police and Rangers have taken strict action against defaulters and electricity thieves in various areas of Karachi in KE's ongoing campaign 'Operation Burq'.
In a press statement, KE detailed that the FIA uncovered over 2,500 in quantity of hook connections in various areas of Karachi while taking stringent disciplinary action against the offenders. On the basis of installing illegal hook connections, FIA took strict action against power theft, sealed some restaurants and apprehended people for further investigations.
Operation Burq team carried further raids in areas including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Liaquatabad, Orangi, Clifton, Bahadurabad, and Tipu Sultan while taking severe action against power theft.
Spokesperson KE said, "Operation Burq is a reflection of KE's unwavering policy against power theft and sends out a clear message to all defaulters and electricity thieves. KE will continue to combat electricity theft in the city through their operation and all culprits will face strict legal action regardless of their status.
The purpose of this operation is to facilitate our valued customers who bear the brunt of load-shed due to these defaulters and power thieves. Law enforcement agencies are working alongside KE and we are committed in continuing these raids while taking lawful action against all culprits."-PR
