Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Inland Revenue (I&I-IR), Karachi has acquired the details of 50 Pakistanis, who showed interest to invest in NSHAMA's Dubai-based residential project, which is said to be owned by an Indian Reghu Raj Balkrishna.
According to sources, a team of I&I-IR raided at the launch of NSHAMA's Dubai-based residential project under Section 175 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 at a local hotel last Saturday.
They said that NSHAMA in order to deceive Pakistani authorities had sent two groups - one comprises Williams, a Kenyan national and head of the group, Hersh, Manager Finance, Imran Ali, Assistant manager, George, Assistant Manager, Atif, head of IT department, Ms Areena and Roshan Ara, a representative of Dubai based real estate consultant 'Al-Waci International' while second group includes Dubai's top realtors headed by an Indian Kuldeep.
They said that group headed by Williams met the Pakistani investors at unauthorised investment road show organised at Karachi's local hotel on May 16, 2015 without having NoC from the ministry concerned. Sources said that the Directorate, which had no information about second group, had mounted its vigilance only on first group. Consequently, the second group had not only convened successful secret meetings with Pakistani investors at undisclosed locations last week but also involved in transferring black money to Dubai through 'Hawala Hundi'.
Replying to a question, sources said that Kuldeep and his group managed to flee to Dubai before the arrival of I&I-IR team at airport to nab them.
They said that I&I-IR, Karachi during Saturday's raid also served notice to the representatives of NSHAMA and confiscated their three I-Pads and a laptop and directed them to submit all the names/details/phone numbers of persons who approached them for investment purposes.
In response to the notice, the NSHAMA has provided investors' details besides I&I-IR, Karachi has also obtained records of investors after forensic examination of the confiscated laptop.
Sources said that details of around 50 Pakistani investors, who showed interest to invest in NSHAMA's project, had been obtained by the Directorate and these 50 Pakistanis were identified as bureaucrats, businessmen, politicians and professionals. Furthermore, sources said that I&I-IR, Karachi was presently examining their records and also striving to find the linkages between Pakistani and Dubai's realtors.
