The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over Capital Development Authority (CDA) top brass, who repeatedly failed to submit buildings' commercialisation details and hinted at referring the matter to top anti-graft body. A two-member bench of the Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh resumed the hearing of a matter relating to removal of blockade on roads in various parts of Islamabad and barriers installed by some foreign missions in residential areas of the capital city.
Counsel for Bridge Factor (Pvt) Ltd M. Ali Raza apprised the bench that no action has been taken against those using residential areas for commercial purposes, saying that just for eyewash the CDA penalised some beauty parlors. "Its beyond my consideration that as to why CDA is not comprehending the court directives in the current matter - the Authority has been communicated in English, Urdu and Punjabi - should the court adopt Persian dialect to make the preposition understandable to the CDA officials," Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh said.
He further said while addressing the CDA counsel to let his client know that if the court issue directives to give him in National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) custody for two nights, he will divulge everything about details of commercial activities in residential areas."
However, Justice Khawaja directed the CDA counsel to ask Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal to get ready to attend the court proceedings if required on June 04. To which Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh plainly observed, "It is not necessary that after appearing before the court the Chairman CDA may leave for the home". Later, adjourning the hearing of the matter, the bench directed the CDA counsel to bring detail of buildings commercialisation in the city on June 04.
