The Ferozpur Road Industrial Association (FRIA) and the Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) have voiced their concerns over the newly fixed price of dollar against the rupee with the purchasing price of the dollar as Rs 101.75. The concern came from FRIA Chairman and PIAF Vice Chairman, Khawaja Shahzeb Akram who said, "It will create an alarming situation. The import duty will be high which may show an uncontrollable increase in the production cost of the locally produced commodities and the inflation rate, thus making the common suffer."
As he analysed the factual reasons of the higher dollar price fixation, he said, "Because of unbalance in payments and also because of the higher cost of production, the foreign debt will increase tremendously which in turn will put more pressure on our economy." He hoped the government would take some constructive measures to create a balance in payments and reduce the finance deficit and burden of debt servicing.
