The General Election 2013 Inquiry Commission (GEIC) Thursday allowed Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Farooq Sattar to record his testimony in the matter on June 19. Chairman of the GEIC Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk recorded statements of three Returning Officers of the constituencies NA-21, NA-119 and NA-125 amid hearing of the plea of MQM. They were of asked to submit response of allegation levelled by JI and Mohajar Qaumi Movement against them in the current case.
Returning Officer of the NA-21 told the GEIC that number of registered voters in the constituency were 3,92,366 against which a total of 4,51,300 ballot papers were printed. He said that 48,000 ballot papers were not distributed among the presiding officers whereas all the election material was deposited to the concerned treasury office after election. Returning Officer of the NA-119 Sajad Hussain said while recording statement that in the constituency a total of 305570 voters were registered saying a demand of 3,68000 ballot papers was given to the election commission. Hussain further said that he oversaw the presiding officers' selection process, adding that after the completion of the election in the constituency he deposited all the record in the treasury office. NA-125' returning officer Khalid Mehmood Bhatti said that the election commission provided 5,50,000 ballot papers against demand of 500000 ballot papers saying he retained extra 50,000 ballot papers in office. He further told that a total of 2,26,350 ballot papers were utilised in the constituency, adding that all the unused ballot papers and other election material was deposited to the treasury office. Bhatti further said that CCTV cameras were installed in the court room where result of NA-125 was finalised. Later, issuing notices to the counsels for Mohajar Qaumi Movement and JI, the GEIC adjourned hearing till June 19 (today).
