The metropolis is expected to go through a partly cloudy weather with simmering temperature of maximum 38 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours, the Met Office said on Tuesday. The office also indicated the city's scorching weather was also likely to remain hot and humid. In the last 24 hours, the city temperature reached maximum 37 degrees Celsius with 69 percent humidity.
"Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending south-eastwards. Moderate moist currents are penetrating into upper and central parts of the country and likely to continue during next 2 days," the office said in its weather summary. According to the forecast, there are no chances of rain in the metropolis in the next 48 hours and the Met Office report suggests, 'hot and dry' weather for many parts of the country including the heatwaves plagued Karachi.
More rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur D G Khan, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Mardan, D I Khan, Zhob, Sibbi, Sukkur and Larkana divisions, besides Baltistan and Fata in the next 24 hours.
Highest temperature was recorded in Sibbi and Turbat 47 degrees Celsius each followed by Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Lasbella, Bahawalnagar, Okara, R.Y.Khan and Noorpurthal with 44 degrees Celsius each. Highest rainfall was in Mangla 34 mm followed Multan 25 mm, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 14 mm, Shamsabad 7 mm), Murree 13 mm, Islamabad (Z.P, Saidpur 13mm, Golra 5mm), Barkhan 11mm, Sialkot Cantt 10 mm each, Kasur, Kakul, Malamjabba 8 mm each, Muzaffarabad 6 mm, Parachinar and Saidu Sharif 4 each, Gujrat, Jhelum, Kotli and Rawalakot 3 mm each.
