Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of over 6,000 cases since January this year. As per statistics, five single-member benches and two division benches comprising two judges of the IHC disposed of 6,147 cases in last six months. Chief Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi of IHC alone disposed of 573 petitions since January 2015. Whereby, Justice Aamir Farooq takes the lead as he disposed of 1,103 cases during the said period. Justice Athar Minallah decided 997 petitions in six months from January 1, 2015 and June 30, 2015. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has adjudicated 745 petitions while Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi passed judgements in 648 cases.
The two division benches of the IHC had decided 2,081 intra court appeals (ICAs) and appeals against the orders of the special courts in last six months. It may be mentioned that as per Islamabad High Court Act 2010, the sanctioned strength of IHC Judges is seven, whereas five judges are on the available strength of the IHC.
