Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that practical steps are being taken for the promotion of nurses and work has already been started on service structure of nurses. "Departmental promotion committee meeting will be held in August to promote nurses in next grades while nurses will soon hear good news regarding their services structure," he said this while talking to a delegation of Young Nursing Association headed by Tauseef Khanum who called on him, here today.
Besides, Secretary Health Jawwad Rafique Malik, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervez, Additional Secretary Health (Admn) Adnan Zafar, Deputy Secretary Health (Admn) Raja Mansoor and other officers attended the meeting. The delegation apprised the Advisor of the issues regarding their service matters, delay in promotions and dilapidated condition of Nurses hostel of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
Salman Rafique informed the delegation that 1,500 nurses have recently been promoted while the defer cases of nurses will also be considered in the next DPC meeting. It was informed that the revised seniority list of nurses has been uploaded at the web site of Health Department and objections have been sought from the stake holders within 15 days but only few objections have so far received in the department.
Additional Secretary Adnan Zafar stated that maximum cases of nurses would be considered in the next DPC which would be held in August. He informed that previously the department had sent the requisition for 1,200 nurses to PPSC and another requisition of 800 nurses has been forwarded to PPSC. Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik directed to send a senior Planning officer to the nurses' hostel of Sir Ganga Ram hospital for physical checking who would submit report regarding the condition of hostel building, status of furniture and other equipment of the hostel.
Salman Rafique assured the delegation that the issue of deduction of allowances during leave period would be solved on priority bases. He said that all nurses schools in Punjab would be upgraded at college level in different phases. He assured that all the issues related to the nurses would be resolved on priority bases. He said that nurses are the very important pillar of healthcare system and their due rights would be protected. Ms Tauseef Khanum thanked the Advisor Health Salman Rafique and the Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik for hearing the delegation sympathetically and assuring to solve their problems on priority basis.
