On first working day after Eid holidays, mostly thin attendance was observed in public and private offices on Wednesday, people were busy in greeting Eid to each other and sharing their experiences. People usually in leisure mood, greeted Eid, discussed the high rates of garments, shoes, grocery items and non-availability of local transport during the festival holidays.
This year the government had announced five-day official leave from July 17 to July 21, but people from far flung areas took three-days extra leaves, till Friday to club it with the coming weekend making it a 10-day leave to spend more time with their near and dear ones. Local and people from nearby areas mostly resumed their offices to run the routine business of offices. The residents of near by areas started returning back to the capital from Monday to spend some time with their local kins and have some rest before joining duties.
Akhtar Zain, an employee of a private bank hailing from Chakwal said his hometown is just at a distance of two and half hours drive but he came back yesterday to avoid rush in morning. He commented that the staffers of far away areas like Multan, Bahawalpur, Sindh got opportunity to visit their native areas once or twice a year so they desrve extra leaves.
