President of the Pakistan People's Party Punjab has demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to appoint returning officers from the Judiciary and made it clear that his party will never accept Punjab government officers as returning officers (ROs) in the upcoming Local Bodies' elections.
Wattoo said on Friday that if the commission refused to accept the party's demand, it would seriously consider challenging it in the court because the elections under the supervision of the provincial government officers would never be free, fair and impartial. He also demanded that the polling staff to help the returning officers in the electoral process be taken from the federal government offices to stop electoral manipulation.
