President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday gave assent to two bills which were passed by the Senate on Legal Practitioners and Seed Amendment. The President on a summary initiated by Senate Secretariat approved the Prime Minister's advice and accorded assent to the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill, 2015.
According to statement of objects and reasons, the Pakistan Bar Council has proposed amendments in sections 41 and 54 of the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973 (XXXV of 1973) to further regulate the disciplinary proceedings in the cases of grave professional misconduct and to prescribe the period for expeditious disposal of complaints. On another summary initiated by Senate Secretariat, the President approved the Prime Minister's advice and accorded his assent to the Seed (Amendment) Bill, 2015.
The amendment has been made to address the requirements of Modern Seed Industry as over the years, the capacity of the public sector has been impaired and the private sector was playing stronger and more vibrant role in the development of seed industry. The new "Seed Amendment Bill has been drafted in view of the emerging realities which will provide level playing field to both, public and private sector.
