Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain on Monday said Pakistan and Egypt have common perception on terrorism and condemned it in all its forms and manifestations. He was speaking as chief guest at a reception hosted by Ambassador of the Republic of Egypt, Said Hindam to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution. The Minister for Defence Production felicitated the people and Government of Egypt on the anniversary of their country's revolution.
He said Pakistan and Egypt enjoy close, historic, deep-rooted and brotherly relations in all areas, adding, Pakistan attaches great importance to these ties. "We want to strengthen Pak-Egypt relations in all fields", he added. The Minister for Defence Production said Pakistan has been consistently supporting the cause of Palestinians and was supportive of a two-state resolution of the issue with Jerusalem as capital of Palestine.
Ambassador of the Republic of Egypt, Said Hindam in his remarks on the occasion praised Gamal Abdel Nasser - leader of the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 - for turning Egypt into a modern state. He said Egypt has been facing the challenges of terrorism and economic difficulties, adding, "We are making every effort to overcome these challenges". The Egyptian Ambassador said that Egypt was clear in its view that it would never accept terrorism as an issue of sectarianism.
He appreciated Pakistan for taking a bold step to eradicate the menace of terrorism by starting the Zarb-e-Azb operation. The reception was attended among others by Minister of State Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, AJK President Sardar Yaqoob, diplomats, senior civil and military officials and journalists. Earlier, national anthems of both the countries were also played.
