Islamabad police had arrested nine bike lifters and recovered 11 stolen bikes from their possession during one week a police spokesman said. He said that SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas had constituted special teams including personnel of Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) following directions of SSP Islamabad (Operations) Sajid Kiani to arrest those involved in bike lifting incidents in various areas of the city.
The teams included Sub-Inspector Muhammad Afzal and Rajab Ali Shah, ASIs Sarfraz Ahmed, Muhammad Sharif, Waheed Ahmed and others. Police teams managed to arrest nine persons identified Ali, Ajmal Khan, Naveed, Mubashir, Qasim ,Saqib, Israr Gul, Shafique Gul and Akash Razan and recovered 11 bikes stolen from area of Margalla, Kohsar, Sabzi Mandi, Sadiqa Abad police stations.
During preliminary investigation, the nabbed persons admitted to strike at various places in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and they used to sell stolen bikes in Peshawar and other areas. Police is hopeful for more recovery as raids are also being conducted to arrest their other accomplices. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway.
