A drive meant to check food outlets failing hygiene conditions and food quality has dragged on with the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) this time around sealing off a Chinese restaurant in Gulberg and other food outlets. The seal-off came on Thursday when an inspection team headed by Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz visited the Hsin Kaung Chinese restaurant.
In another operation, the Ravi Town inspection team heavily fined the Khalifa bakery production unit (khtai section) because of its sleazy working condition. The team also imposed a fine plus a final warning to the Khalifa bakery production unit (bakery section). The operation in the Samanabad Town saw the sealing of the Malik Hotel in Ayubia Market and the 'Mama Sweets' on the Wahdat Road. While another team forced the closure of the Naimat-e-Shirin Shahdara Town because of presence of starch in food items, expired energile and lack of expiry date on its products.
More outlets also facing closure are a KFC outlet on the Singhpura G.T. Road, the New Paradise Hotel in New Anarkali and the Hafiz Fast Food and Juices. And another, facing a heavy fine by the Aziz Bhatti Town team, was the Kings Fry Chicks on the Dargohawala Road. The crackdown has also targeted those selling adulterated milk and 41 milk-carrying vehicles impounded and 160 litres of substandard milk was also wasted on the spot.
