The Parks and Horticulture Authority and the City District Government Lahore have planned to hoist Pakistan's biggest flag near Shahi Qila to mark the Independence Day celebrations. Authority sources told Business Recorder on Saturday that they had identified a piece of land near the historic Lahore Fort where a 150-feet tall pole would be set up without causing any damage to the important historic building. "This will be one of the events which will be arranged by the authority to mark the day's celebrations," the sources added.
The authority is also expecting to open the gates of Pakistan's first ever 'Butterfly House' built at the Jallo Park, Lahore at Rs 70 million next week. The authority undertook the construction of this project aimed at displaying and disseminating information about this colourful creature and it is ready and in the test run now a day. All kinds of Pakistani butterflies, which range from 35 to 40, have been housed in this especially built aviary. The sources said this butterfly house was part of the Jallo Botanical Garden and foreign species of butterflies were also being imported from Thailand to be housed in this purpose-built aviary.
