'Theatre of the absurd'

This is in response to Business Recorder's editorial 'Theatre of the absurd'. The newspaper has raised a profound question. Pointing out that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief's highly objectionable and irrational remarks against state institutions have led to a situation that can be aptly described as the 'theatre of the absurd' has asked: "Aren't the world in general and the people of Pakistan in particular witnessing a type of drama that tries to portray the absurdity of human life using illogical, meaningless, and deliberately confusing action and dialogue?"
This is what this nation of 200 million a plus has been witnessing for several weeks. Sanity has, however, ultimately gained ground. Federal Railways minister has asked the MQM chief to tender an apology to the nation for his diatribe. This is, indeed, a saner advice. Realising his mistake, Altaf has revised, albeit partially, his narrative. He seems to have extended a help of friendship towards the security establishment in particular; and he has already clarified that he had never asked India to intervene in Karachi's situation. There are good steps on the part of MQM chief. He's required to show utmost care and caution with regard to his selection of words in his response to Karachi's situation.
