All the political parties and members of civil society declined the governor proposed Fata council and posting of Additional Political Agent (APA) as Agency Judge. Commenting on the statement issued in media, regarding establishment of nominated agency councils in Fata and granting judicial power to the Additional PA, the tribesmen categorically rejected the reforms, proposed by the governor nominated commission and said the tribal could not be deceived with nominal reforms.
They stressed for extension of basic human rights to the tribal belt and include it in main stream.
Jamaat-e-Islami(JI) naib ameer Fata Zernoor Afridi while terming the statement of the governor ridiculous, said the APA is representative of bureaucracy and a subordinate of the governor therefore he added, how can he will fairly deal cases and will provide justice to the masses.
The dwellers of Fata dissatisfied with the governor proposed agency that will act under the Political Agent and called for provision of all fundamental rights. He suggested for formation of permanent reforms in Fata and proposed setting up of elected councils in the tribal belt. He also asked for separation of judiciary from administration and deploys retired judges in Fata.
When version of ex-Member National Assembly(MNA) and central leader of Pakistan People Party (PPP), Akhunzada Chattan was sought on the issue, he said we opposed the governor commission at the time of its formation because it was lacking representation of the tribal and still we reject all reforms formulated by the commission. He demanded forthwith conducting of local bodies election in Fata and abolishment of article 247 of the constitution to let them access to the Supreme Court.
Replying to a query of posting of Additional Political Agent as Agency Judge in Fata, he said it is like old wine in a new bottle and an attempt to put mud in the eyes of more than 15 millions tribal because, he added earlier Assistant political Agent performed the job of judge and in new plan the same responsibilities have been assigned to the additional PA.
He further said being part of the administration he cannot deliver as per wishes of the tribal. If the reforms of the governor commission are better and suitable than why not the government implement it in other parts of the country, he questioned. The tribesmen are loyal to their motherland and have never hesitated to lay down their lives for it therefore all basic rights should be bestowed on them, he remarked.
