Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said both Pakistan and Afghanistan leadership should take steps to improve friendly and bilateral relations in order to end the mistrust being created due to certain reasons. "The bitterness and the mistrust between the two states is not a good omen for ending terrorism and extremism in the region," he viewed.
He said that the relations between the two neighbouring countries were extremely cordial and friendly as Afghan President Ashraf Ghani assumed the post but the internal political situation plus anti-Pakistan propaganda forced the Afghan leadership to blame Pakistan for situation inside Afghanistan. "Islamabad should have to take solid measures in order to end the reservations being raised by the Afghan government," Aftab Sherpao added.
He expressed these views during a joining ceremony in which Malakand division prominent social and political activist Amir Alam Khan; ANP Malakand division leaders Amir Zaman Khan, Misal Khan and Dir Nawab Khan along with their family members and supporters left the party and expressed confidence on the leadership of QWP chief.
Expressing deep grief over sabotaging talks by India, Aftab Sherpao said it was of vital importance for the people of both the countries that both Pakistan and India may bring normalcy in bilateral relations and resolve all longstanding issues on the negotiation table. The hostile attitude by the Indian government would help increase tension in the region which would ultimately bring negative impressions on the ongoing military operations against terror by Pakistan, Afghanistan and allied forces in the region, he feared.
While appreciating landmark decision by Election Tribunal regarding NA-122 re-election, he said that government should introduce reforms in the electoral process in order to overcome possible chances of rigging and mismanagement in the future.
Talking about Karachi operation, he said that the operation should continue till elimination of last criminal. To a question, he said all the political parties including Pakistan People's Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement had always extended their support regarding crackdown against culprits. "Now, the MQM has no right to create political turmoil in the country owing to the successful operations against the anti-social elements in the city," Aftab Sherpao added.
To a query, he said QWP and PTI leadership had have agreed on the twelve-point agenda and his party had no confrontation with other allied parties including Jamaat-e-Islami and Awami Jamhori Itehad. He said KP should get maximum attention in terms of economic activities in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. He said the route should be built as per original plan to give the smaller provinces its due share. "This would end the prevailing sense of deprivation and help create more jobs in the province that would ultimately led to elimination of terrorism," he said.
Sherpao said KP should be given its due rights under National Finance Commission and shares in oil and gas being generated and complete payment of net hydel profit.
