The Karachi Port handled 138,116 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,293 tonnes of import cargo and 35,823 tonnes of export cargo including 6,789 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 102,293 tonnes comprised of 43,743 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,150 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,841 tonnes of DAP; 6,309 tonnes of SB meal and 102,293 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,823 tonnes comprised of 19,850 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,173 tonnes of general cargo and 14,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,789 containers comprising of 3,350 containers import and 3,439 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,088 of 20's and 1,007 of 40's loaded while 68 of 20's and 90 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 353 of 20's and 487 40's loaded containers while 892 of 20's and 610 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely ER Helgoland, Hanjin Scarlet, MT Lahore, AS Omaria and Nonna Ulia carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. ACX Crystal, Corvette, MT Karachi, DL Rose and Flora carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely ACX Crystal, FPMC P Glory and Coral Sea Fos carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while four ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, Corvette, DL Rose and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were four vessels viz. Uni Premier, PAC Aries, Grand Ace-5 and Alam Sayang carrying containers, mogas and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while six vessels viz. SSL Chennai, Northern Power, Shalamar, Hafnia Asia, Lunita and APJ Shirin carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
