The business community of Faisalabad played pivotal role in making Faisalabad hub of textile industry and now M-3 Industrial Estate has opened new avenues for the engineering related institutions to make concerted efforts for the erection of most modern and latest industry in this planned industrial estate said Engineer Rizwan Ashraf President FCCI.
He was addressing a Seminar organised by Rastgar on Compressed Air for Economy and Efficiency here today.
He said that Industry was almost negligible in 1947 in Faisalabad when Pakistan was created. However the business community, engineering and allied sectors have worked hard to develop a strong industrial base and due to their collaborated efforts. Faisalabad is now internationally known as a well established Industrial city of the world.
Continuing, he said that textile contributes 50% toward our total exports and out of it half is contributed by Faisalabad alone. From this efficiency, we could easily judge the industrial viability and strength of this city.
He said that expatriate Pakistanis are sending remittances to the tune of 14 billion dollars per annum. "We could double this amount by enhancing their skills and sending more and more skilled workers to other countries", he added.
He said that objective of business community was not to earn for itself but we are also contributing towards this country who has given us shelter, protection and name.
He paid best tribute to Imtiaz Rastgar of Rastgar Company and said that he has played a key role in introducing modern engineering technologies in the local industry.
Imtiaz Rastgar in his address said that he had visited Faisalabad in 2006 and at that time FCCI office was housed in a rented building in city area. "I am pleased to see the splendid building of FCCI which also speaks of the progressive approach of the business community. He said that he was also happy to see many foreigners in Serena hotel today who are here to install new industrial units.
"Faisalabad has been put on the road of progress and prosperity and now the international exhibitions like textile Asia should be held in Faisalabad instead of Lahore and Karachi," he suggested.
Regarding his company, he said that the auto parts manufactured by his company are being exported to 40 various countries including America.
