Pakistani mangoes that enjoy unique position in the global market due to their exquisite taste, distinct flavour and sweetness, pulled crowds of mango lovers at the Mango Tasting Event at the Embassy of Pakistan in Japan. It was part of a series of events being organized for celebrating this arrival of King of Fruits- Royale Chaunsa. The Embassy of Pakistan in collaboration with FnF Pakistan organized the "Pakistani Mango-A Taste of Pakistan Event".
People from different walks of life including parliamentarians, diplomats, media, businessmen and academia appreciated the quality and taste of mangoes in terms of its richness and uniqueness. The Mango Mania in Japan started with a soft launch at the Maruetsu Lakeside store last week with simultaneous presentation of the Pakistani mangoes at AEON Stores across Japan followed by the tasting event in the Embassy of Pakistan.
Preparations are also on way for similar events in the Kansai region to strengthen the marketing efforts of the Mission for enhancing mango exports to Japan. Ambassador Farrukh Amil said Pakistan produces over 50 varieties of mangoes with different aromas and tastes, from May to September. Pakistan also produces other world class vegetables, fruits and cereals.
The Ambassador said Pakistani mango highlighted that the country was able to produce, package and present for the sophisticated, high-end market of Japan, the one with the most stringent requirements in the world. He highlighted the determined efforts of the Commercial Wing of the Embassy to introduce Pakistani products to Japan. He hoped that in future more fruits and vegetables would be imported from Pakistan meeting the highest Japanese quarantine and hygienic standards.
Lieutenant General Shafqat Ahmad (R) Managing Director/CEO of FFC, Pakistan thanked the Mission for its untiring efforts towards realizing the goal of marketing Pakistani mangoes to the largest retail chain store in Japan. He said with annual production of mangoes exceeding 1.5 million tons and demand growing around the world, the mango growers and the intermediary industries relating to mango has a big potential for growth in Japan, known for its appetite for world class quality fruits and food.
