-The Vice Chancellor Information Technology University (ITU), Dr Umer Saif said that a research center of ITU Innovations for Poverty Alleviation Lab (IPAL) is going to launch a Solar Powered ATMs, which will provide clean water by using a smart card in a two foot square machine which will help govt to cut water waste and to ensure people to have an access of clean water for better health.
He was talking to the delegation of Lahore Education Reporters Association here on Thursday at Arfa tower. He also said that in the first phase, the project will cover three districts of Southern Punjab ie Bahawalpur, Rajanpur and Faisalabad and according to the experts all these three areas have particularly serious water contamination issues.
Dr Umer urged to promote the IT sector for providing better facilities for the people of the country and for this purpose, ITU playing a pivotal role to fulfil this noble cause. He said being a smallest university of public sector, we are producing talent by promoting IT sector and with the number of PhD's faculty members we are introducing lot of IT innovations.
