As many as five terrorists arrested from Islamabad yesterday (Saturday) have been identified as members of a banned terrorist outfit from Swat. According to details, the dangerous chemical seized from the terrorists' possession has been sent to the laboratory for examination. This arrest and seizure has saved the twin cities from a potential catastrophe.
The terrorists were arrested from Islamabad's Tarnol area. Those arrested include Suleman Rehman, Manzoor Ahmed and Sheharyar, Ahmed Diyar and Shah Faisal. The explosives weighing at least 190 kilogram, detonators and heavy weaponry including 30 Kalashnikov rifles have been seized from terrorists during a raid at Tarnol.
Earlier on Saturday, the law enforcement agencies arrested nearly 60 people over their suspected links with the militants near Islamabad, police said.
Police said 10 were identified as militants who belonged to the country's tribal regions. "The operation was conducted jointly by the paramilitary troops and the police on an intelligence report," a police officer said at a news briefing where the recovered arms and explosives were shown to the media persons.
