Patron-in-chief, Pakistan Hindu Council, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, has said that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees religious freedom to minorities. He further said that father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam in his address to the Constitutional Assembly had also pledged that minorities would be living in the country according to their religious beliefs.
He made these remarks at a quiz competition 'Dharmik' on the history of Pakistan, which was organised for the children belonging to Hindu community.
Dr Vankwani said that religious education to minorities according to their beliefs must be included in the curriculum of schools.
He further said that the teachings of all religions emphasised on their followers to respect other religions, which was essential for a peaceful society.
"The enthusiasm shown by Hindu children to participate in this quiz competition is a proof that the future of the country is bright," Dr Vankwani said, urging all segments of society to join hands towards promoting interfaith harmony.
He also assured the participants that Pakistan Hindu Council would continue its struggle towards protection of minorities' rights. In the end, cash prizes and appreciation shields were presented to the children.
