"A strong employer-employee relationship is a key to success to enhance productivity and exports. Only those organisations would able to have their presence felt at world marketplace, which have realized the phenomenon." These views were expressed by Malik Tahir Javed, Chairman Workers-Employers Bilateral Council of Pakistan (WEBCOP), while talking to a group of businessmen.
"It is now established fact that due to strong relationship employees will be more productive, more efficient, create less conflict and will be more loyal. Strong employment relations create a pleasant atmosphere within the work environment. It increases the employee motivation and can also be increased through improved employee morale. Companies that have invested into employee relations programmes have experienced increases in the productivity, and therefore the increased productivity leads to increases in profits for the business," Tahir Javed said.
The WEBCOP chief said that the fact remains that both the employees and employers should on the same page as far as the common issues are concerned as their difference would give no result at the end of the day and ultimate loser would be the economy. In the developed world, an employee understands well that he or she would have to work with full devotion to overcome the challenges while in the same way the employer keeps himself away of the petty issues, he added. WEBCOP chairman further said that the government would also have to look into the issues of employees and employers to pave the way for much needed local and foreign investment.
He said that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had already done a lot of work for the improvement of infrastructure in the province which is a prerequisite for the investment. He said that the monster of unemployment also needs to be controlled and in this regard the employee-employer relations are also of prime importance as industrial expansion would remain a dream in the absence of friendly business atmosphere.
He also urged the visiting delegation to introduce latest technologies at their respective industrial units if they want to do business in the international market. He said that in the 60s Pakistan's economy was far ahead of a number of leading economies only because of having grip on the latest technology of that time and today we are facing economic troubles because of utilization of modern methodologies. Chaudhry Nasim Iqbal, Vice chairman and Chaudhrty M Yaqoob, Secretary General were also present.
