The Technical and Vocational Training Authority and Super Asia will offer demand-driven courses on the light engineering industry for Gujranwala and across the province. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and group Executive Director Faisal Afzal.
In a speech Chairperson Sheikh said, "We have decided to launch three new courses by the name of machinist, inject moulding machine operator and home appliances repair. As a pilot project, 100 youth will be provided re-training as well as new enrolment at the selected institutes of the authority in Gujranwala. Both the parties will jointly develop an annual calendar of capacity-building activities whilst the agreement will remain in force. The authority will provide stipends to the trainees for three months. PBTE/Trade Testing Board will conduct an examination and then issue certificates."
Chief Executive Afzal said, "The curricula for the training will be jointly developed by the authority and the Super Asia as per requirements of job market. Our organisation will host on-job-trainings for the trainees with access to factory floors. The Super Asia will assist the authority in placement of youth, trained in these courses in the Super Asia and relevant industry after completion of training course. OJTs will be considered mandatory for giving certificates to students."
Those also present were Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, General Manager HR Zubair Javaid, officers Abdul Qayyum, engineer Azhar Iqbal Shad, Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Ayesha Qazi, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Haroon Naseer, Sarfraz Anwar, Amer Hasan and Maqsood Ahmed.
