The talks between Pakistan Airlines Pilots'' Association (Palpa) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Sunday remained inconclusive without any headway, as passengers suffer due to the continued stand-off between PIA and Palpa. The next round of talks will be held on Monday (today).
The negotiations between the representatives of CAA led by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Aviation Shujaat Azeem and Palpa led by Amir Hashmi continued for more than five hours but without any breakthrough.
After holding in-camera talks, Palpa President Amir Hashmi told media that his association informed the government about its reservations. He said that now the ball was in the court of government. He said that the government was not implementing the working agreement of 2011. He said that a pilot of PIA was performing duties equal to two pilots.
He said that another session of negotiations will be held on Monday. To a question, he said that if the government did not accept their demands then Palpa would announce its strategy. To another question, he said that his association did not announce any strike. CAA Spokesperson Sher Ali said that they were moving in right direction and another round of the negotiations would be held again on Monday. He said that the government wanted immediate resolution of the crisis.
The representatives of PIA management did not participate in the talks.
Tiff between PIA and Palpa has entered 4th day. The row was started when the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority suspended the licences of two pilots for one and two years, respectively for "unlawfully operating flight without permission." On the other hand, raise in fare prices by private airline have further increased the troubles of passengers. The PIA is also facing loss of millions of rupees revenue due flight cancellation and accommodation of passengers in hotels.
